Bet365 partners Commanders to launch in Virginia

Bet365 has launched its online sportsbook in Virginia through a partnership with National Football League franchise the Washington Commanders.

The sportsbook went live yesterday (31 January) and offers players in the state a range of sports betting options across a host of events and competition.

The multi-year deal with the Commanders, based in neighbouring Maryland, establishes Bet365 as the team’s official sports betting partner.

Betfred pens partnership with NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights

Betfred USA Sports has signed a multi-year partnership with National Hockey League (NHL) team the Las Vegas Golden Knights.

A subsidiary of UK based Betfred Group, Las Vegas-based Betfred USA Sports began its operations in 2019. The company has expanded its reach across the US, most recently launching products in Maryland and Arizona.

As part of the new deal, Betfred is now an official sports betting partner of the team.

“We’re proud to be partnering with Betfred as they make their arrival here in Las Vegas,” said Golden Knights president Kerry Bubolz. “Betfred’s US business is Vegas born just like we are, and we’re excited to help them launch their brand in Nevada.”

The partnership will include interactive contests for fans during intermission at select home games and signage at T-Mobile Arena.

Additionally, Betfred branding will be incorporated into the NHL’s new digitally enhanced dasherboard (DED) broadcast signage and will feature on the Knight’s official digital channels, ..

Massachusetts launches sports betting voluntary self-exclusion scheme

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) has launched a new voluntary self-exclusion (VSE) scheme for sports betting ahead of the launch of the state’s legal wagering market.

Massachusetts is due to open its regulated sports betting market today (31 January), with the self-exclusion initiative allowing people to opt out of betting with licensed online and land-based operators in the state.

Consumers wishing to register for the scheme can do so via GameSense either over the phone, online or at land-based GameSense centers within Massachusetts.

James Arnold appointed CEO of The Football Pools

Industry executive James Arnold has been appointed chief executive of iconic British betting business The Football Pools.

Arnold began his new role earlier this month, at the start of the business’ centenary year.

He joins from Noel Hayden’s LiveScore Group, which runs the Virgin Bet and LiveScore Bet sports betting brands, where he spent three years first as chief operating officer, then chief commercial officer.

Earlier in his career, Arnold worked for the likes of Betway, Boylesports and SportingBet, holding a number of marketing and executive roles during his tenure with each operator.

He replaces Derek Lloyd, who had served as CEO of The Football Pools since July 2017.

Altenar expands into Belgium with Starcasino

Malta-headquartered sportsbook supplier Altenar has expanded into the Belgian market after securing a new partnership with Starcasino.

Belgian operator Starcasino integrated the full Altenar sportsbook solution at the end of last year and is now offering customers in the country a range of pre-match and live betting.

Other tools include full promotional suite and customer support across risk management, limits and communication, while Altenar will also act as Starcasino’s technology partner.

Michigan online gambling revenue reaches $1.98bn in 2022

Gross receipts from online sports betting and internet casino games in Michigan amounted to $1.98bn in 2022, a 41.4% year-on-year increase.

The yearly total, comprising gross receipts from both commercial and tribal operators in the state, was comfortably ahead of the $1.40bn figure posted during the first full year of legal online gambling in Michigan in 2021.

Of this total, $1.58bn came from online casino gaming, while internet sports wagering was responsible for $399.6m in gross receipts.

NH betting revenue and handle rise year-on-year in December

The New Hampshire Lottery reported a year-on-year increase in both sports wagering gross gaming revenue (GGR) and handle for December.

Players in the state spent $90.9m betting on sports in the month, up 5.2% from December of 2021 but a 2.4% drop from $93.1m in November of 2022.

Of this total, $65.9m was spent wagering on the DraftKings mobile sportsbook, while some $25.0m was bet at the operator’s three retail sportsbooks in New Hampshire.

Genius Sports enters NFL data and betting deal with TSN+

Genius Sports has entered into a partnership with Canadian sports channel The Sports Network (TSN), wherein Genius will supply TSN’s streaming platform TSN+ with its proprietary data feed for NFL games.

Under the terms of the agreement, Genius will deliver its real-time overlays to TSN+ which will include graphics and visualisations as well as its Next Gen Stats (NGS) data.

Since April 2021, the sports data business has been the official data partner of the league – an agreement which was expanded to include streaming options for US operators in November 2022.

IMG Arena pens streaming partnership with top Norwegian football divisions

IMG Arena has partnered with Norway’s top two football divisions, Eliteserien and OBOS-Ligaen, to secure their global betting streaming rights.

Both divisions feature 16 teams with matches played between April and November and fixtures generally on Sunday nights.

The long-term partnership will incorporate 485 matches across the two leagues and will help to build IMG’s global football portfolio.
