WNBA to integrate FanDuel odds following partnership extension

FanDuel and the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) have signed a multi-year extension of their partnership.

It comes five years after the partnership was first established, and sees FanDuel become an official sportsbook partner of the WNBA. FanDuel had already operated the WNBA’s official daily fantasy game, as its official daily fantasy partner.

During future seasons, FanDuel odds will now feature on a number of WNBA’s digital channels.

Michigan names 888 as Hannahville tribe’s sports betting provider

The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has approved 888 Holdings subsidiary VHL Michigan LLC as the new online sports betting provider for the Hannahville Indian Community.

The Hannahville tribe initially entered into a platform agreement with Churchill Downs Incorporated’s (CDI) TwinSpires B2B sports betting business, but were forced to find a new supplier following CDI’s announcement that it would be re-orientating to provide a more focused horse racing product.

The community operates the Island Resort and Casino in Harris, Michigan – with the tribe’s online site continuing to trade under the Sports Illustrated brand name.

MGCB executive director Henry Williams said: “The Hannahville tribe is the first operator in Michigan to change platform providers since internet gaming and sports betting began here in January 2021. The tribe has found another experienced partner, and I wish them continued success.”

Betegy to ramp up US push following Yolo investment

Betegy has closed an investment round led by Yolo Investments – the venture capital arm of the Yolo Group, which operates the Sportsbet.io brand.

Betegy – which provides data visualisations, automated on-air and retail graphics, and casino marketing assets to operators – intends to use the funds to continue its scaling in the US. The announcement follows a previous funding round led by JKR Investment Group, which was announced in 2020.

How social gaming set Bryan Bennett up to succeed at Betfred

Bryan Bennett fought “800lb gorillas” working for a challenger brand in the social casino space, and that experience could prove crucial as he works to make Betfred USA Sports a key player in the sports betting sector.

The social casino boom of the early 2010s, sparked by what was then Caesars Interactive’s investment in Playtika in 2009, opened up a new audience to the gaming industry and sparked a wave of M&A. The likes of DoubleDown, Big Fish Games, Product Madness and Buffalo Studios were among those to sell at significant multiples.

Why MaximBet is more than a sum of its parts

When PASPA was repealed, Daniel Graetzer saw the biggest opportunity of his career. Having gone all-in on the market, he is now running a nationally recognised brand in MaximBet.

Risk seems inherent to sports betting, so suppliers promising to underwrite sports betting losses may seem like a unique approach. But interest is piqued among operators. iGB speaks to Richard Thorp, director at RPM Gaming and consultant for Atlas-IAC, and Sergei Efimenko, CEO of Atlas-IAC about their new no-risk sportsbook product.

The claim of a no-risk sportsbook – brought about by a collaboration between RPM Gaming and software provider Atlas-IAC – may raise some eyebrows: after all, sportsbooks are all about risk. But the concept can be explained rather simply.

“The idea is, if you are a casino operator, we will integrate as an iframe into your platform – but we will underwrite all the risk,” says Richard Thorp, director of RPM.

BetRivers launches retail sportsbook in Maryland

Rush Street Interactive (RSI) has partnered with Bingo World to launch the BetRivers retail sportsbook in Maryland today.

The 3,000 square foot sportsbook features 12 self-service kiosks and three over-the-counter machines.

The sportsbook is set to open at 12:00 EST today (1 August), in a ceremony that will feature Qadry Ismail, former player for the Baltimore Ravens, BetRivers B2B services director Adam Glass and Maryland state Senator Pamela Beidle among others.

OpenBet to power Sazkabet sportsbook

Light & Wonder has announced that its sports betting business OpenBet will power Sazka a.s and its Czech sportsbook brand Sazkabet's online and mobile sportsbook.

As part of the deal, Sazkabet has already deployed the OpenBet managed services platform, which includes a scalable betting engine and risk and liability management system.

In addition, OpenBet has now expanded its presence across Europe by partnering with Sazka , the largest lottery operator in the Czech Republic.
